WesBank CashPower Personal Loans Review 2026

Last Updated: September 2026

WesBank CashPower personal loans offer South Africans access to unsecured borrowing of between R5,000 and R350,000, subject to approval and affordability.

Unlike WesBank vehicle finance, a CashPower personal loan isn’t tied to a particular car or other asset. If approved, you receive borrowed money that can potentially be used for expenses such as home improvements, education, unexpected costs, debt consolidation or a major purchase.

CashPower currently offers fixed repayments over 24 to 72 months, with advertised interest rates ranging from 18.00% to 28.00% per year, depending on your individual circumstances and financial profile.

But the interest rate isn’t the only number you should consider.

Fees, insurance where applicable, the amount borrowed and your repayment period can substantially affect the total cost of the loan.

In this WesBank CashPower personal loan review, we’ll look at how CashPower works, current rates and fees, requirements, repayment periods, credit checks and what you should consider before applying.

Important: FatCat Loans is a loan comparison service, not a lender. WesBank CashPower may not be one of the loan providers available through our service. This independent review is provided to help South African consumers research and compare their borrowing options.

What Is a WesBank CashPower Personal Loan?

CashPower is an unsecured personal loan offered under the WesBank brand.

“Unsecured” means you don’t provide a car, property or another asset as security for the loan.

Instead, approval depends on an assessment of factors such as your income, expenses, existing financial commitments, credit history and ability to repay.

This is an important distinction from WesBank vehicle finance.

With conventional vehicle finance, the credit agreement is linked to the vehicle being purchased. CashPower gives you access to an unsecured amount of money that isn’t financed against a particular asset.

That provides greater flexibility, but unsecured lending can also carry higher interest rates because the lender doesn’t have an asset securing the debt.

Why does DirectAxis appear on a WesBank CashPower loan?

CashPower is the WesBank-branded personal-loan offering administered through DirectAxis, a business unit of FirstRand Bank Limited. The underlying personal-loan product is currently presented by DirectAxis with borrowing from R5,000 to R350,000 over 24 to 72 months.

DirectAxis therefore isn’t an unrelated lender appearing halfway through your WesBank application. It handles the administration and management of the CashPower personal-loan product.

If you’re unfamiliar with the company, our DirectAxis loans review explains how DirectAxis personal loans work, including eligibility, fees, repayments and what to consider before applying.

How Much Can You Borrow From WesBank CashPower?

WesBank currently advertises CashPower personal loans from R5,000 up to R350,000.

That doesn’t mean every applicant can borrow R350,000.

The amount available to you will depend on the outcome of the lender’s assessment.

Factors that can affect how much you can borrow may include:

  • your monthly income
  • your regular living expenses
  • existing loan and credit repayments
  • your credit profile
  • other financial commitments
  • the amount you’re requesting
  • your ability to afford the proposed repayment

The R350,000 figure is the advertised product maximum, not an amount you’re automatically entitled to borrow.

Don’t borrow more simply because you’re offered more

Suppose you originally need R80,000 but are approved for considerably more.

A larger offer doesn’t necessarily mean you should take it.

Every additional rand borrowed can potentially attract interest and applicable charges over the repayment period.

The better question is:

“How much do I actually need, and what can I comfortably afford to repay?”

rather than:

“What’s the maximum they’ll give me?”

If you’re trying to work out an appropriate borrowing amount, our guide to how much you can borrow in South Africa explains some of the factors that can affect affordability.

What Interest Rate Does WesBank CashPower Charge?

WesBank currently advertises CashPower interest rates ranging from 18.00% to 28.00% per annum, compounded monthly.

The published range is stated as current as of May 2026.

That doesn’t mean you can choose an 18% interest rate.

Your actual rate is determined according to your personal circumstances and financial profile.

Two people borrowing the same amount over the same repayment period could therefore receive different offers.

Your quotation is what matters.

Are CashPower interest rates fixed?

Yes.

WesBank describes CashPower as having a fixed interest rate.

That means the interest rate applicable to your agreement doesn’t move up and down during the term simply because South Africa’s prime lending rate changes.

Your agreed monthly repayment therefore remains predictable, assuming the loan is being repaid according to the agreement.

That can make budgeting easier.

It’s quite different from the linked-rate option we discussed in our WesBank vehicle-finance review, where a change in prime can affect the repayment on a linked agreement.

Is 18% the rate everyone gets?

No.

This is an important distinction.

18.00% is the bottom of WesBank’s currently advertised CashPower range.

It shouldn’t be presented as:

“WesBank CashPower loans have an 18% interest rate.”

A more accurate description is:

CashPower currently advertises personalised fixed interest rates ranging from 18.00% to 28.00% per year, with the actual rate determined according to the applicant’s circumstances and financial profile.

That’s also why you should compare the actual quotations you’re offered rather than comparing lenders solely using their lowest advertised rate.

What Fees Does WesBank CashPower Charge?

Interest isn’t the only cost of a CashPower personal loan.

WesBank states that its personal loans include:

An initiation fee

This is a once-off charge associated with setting up the loan.

A monthly service fee

WesBank currently states that the CashPower monthly service fee is R69.

The precise costs applicable to your loan should be shown in your quotation and pre-agreement information.

WesBank’s R60,000 CashPower cost example

WesBank provides a useful example demonstrating why borrowers should look beyond the amount they’re borrowing.

Its current example is based on:

Example
Loan amount R60,000
Interest rate 24.75% p.a.
Repayment period 72 months
Once-off initiation fee R1,207.50
Monthly service fee R69
Total cost of loan R137,754.32

These figures come from WesBank’s current CashPower product disclosure.

The striking number is the last one.

You’re borrowing R60,000, but WesBank’s illustrative example shows a total loan cost of R137,754.32 over six years.

That’s more than twice the original amount borrowed.

It doesn’t mean every R60,000 CashPower loan will cost R137,754.32. The example specifically uses a 24.75% annual interest rate and 72-month term, and your offer may be different.

But it demonstrates why the monthly repayment alone can give an incomplete picture of what a personal loan costs.

Why the repayment period matters

A longer repayment period can reduce the amount you need to find each month.

But stretching a loan over more years generally means interest has longer to accumulate.

For example, don’t automatically assume:

R2,000 per month = better

than:

R2,600 per month = worse.

If the first repayment continues for substantially longer, its total cost could be higher.

Compare the total amount repayable, not simply which monthly instalment looks easiest to fit into your budget.

How Long Do You Have to Repay a WesBank CashPower Loan?

CashPower currently offers repayment periods between 24 and 72 months, or two to six years.

The term available to you will depend on the loan and your approved offer.

A shorter repayment period

Choosing a shorter term generally means:

  • higher monthly repayments
  • the debt is repaid sooner
  • interest has less time to accumulate
  • potentially lower total borrowing costs

A longer repayment period

A longer term can mean:

  • lower monthly repayments
  • more breathing room in your monthly budget
  • remaining in debt for longer
  • potentially paying considerably more interest overall

Neither option is automatically right for everybody.

The aim is to find a repayment that is comfortably affordable without unnecessarily extending the debt.

If you can only make a proposed loan affordable by stretching it to the full six years, it’s worth considering whether you’re borrowing too much in the first place.

Who Can Qualify for a WesBank CashPower Personal Loan?

WesBank currently states that CashPower applicants need to earn at least R5,000 per month.

However, earning R5,000 doesn’t mean you’ll automatically qualify for a loan.

CashPower is a regulated credit product. Under South Africa’s National Credit Act and affordability assessment regulations, credit providers must assess whether a consumer has the financial means to meet the proposed repayments. Your approved amount, interest rate and repayment terms can therefore differ from another applicant’s.

WesBank’s current CashPower information lists the following basic requirements:

  • minimum monthly income of R5,000
  • proof of income
  • a clear copy of your ID
  • proof of residential address no older than three months

WesBank also states that if you’re married in community of property, you’ll need written consent from your spouse before entering into the credit agreement.

Does earning R5,000 mean you can borrow R350,000?

No.

The R5,000 figure is the advertised minimum monthly income requirement, while R350,000 is the maximum advertised CashPower loan amount.

They shouldn’t be interpreted as meaning somebody earning R5,000 per month could qualify for R350,000.

The amount available to you will depend on the lender’s assessment and what you can afford to repay.

This distinction is particularly important on loan comparison sites because product maximums can look like promises when they’re really just the upper limit of what the product offers.

What Documents Do You Need for a CashPower Loan?

WesBank currently asks CashPower applicants to have access to:

  • the most recent three months’ bank-generated PDF statements or a payslip as proof of income
  • a clear copy of their Identity Document
  • proof of address no older than three months

WesBank notes that applicants will be told during the process exactly which documents are required for their particular application.

Having these documents available doesn’t guarantee approval.

They allow the lender to verify information supplied during the application and assess whether the proposed loan is appropriate for your circumstances.

Does WesBank CashPower Check Your Credit Score?

You should expect a credit assessment when applying for a CashPower personal loan.

WesBank explicitly states that CashPower credit is subject to qualifying criteria, and your interest rate is determined according to your personal circumstances and financial profile.

However, we haven’t found a publicly advertised minimum CashPower credit-score requirement. DirectAxis currently states that applicants need a good credit record, but it doesn’t publish a specific minimum score on its personal-loan requirements page.

That’s an important distinction.

Don’t assume:

“My credit score is 650, therefore WesBank will approve me.”

A lender’s decision can consider more than a single credit-score number.

Your existing debts, repayment history, income, expenses and overall affordability can all be relevant when assessing new credit.

If you want to understand what happens to your credit file when you apply, read our guide to soft vs hard credit checks in South Africa.

Could your credit profile affect your interest rate?

Yes.

WesBank specifically states that the CashPower interest rate offered to you will be determined according to your personal circumstances and financial profile.

That’s why its advertised range runs from 18.00% to 28.00% p.a.

You shouldn’t assume you’ll receive the lowest advertised rate simply because you meet the basic income and document requirements.

Your actual quotation is the figure you need to evaluate.

Can You Get a WesBank CashPower Loan With Bad Credit?

Possibly, but there is no guaranteed approval.

WesBank doesn’t currently advertise CashPower as a no-credit-check loan or state that applicants with bad credit will automatically qualify.

An unsecured personal loan still involves an assessment before credit is granted.

If your credit history shows missed payments, defaults or difficulty managing existing debt, that could affect your ability to qualify for additional credit.

Likewise, even somebody with a stronger credit history could be declined if the proposed repayment isn’t affordable.

So be wary of third-party websites or adverts claiming things such as:

“Guaranteed WesBank loan with bad credit”

or:

“WesBank loan with no credit check.”

Those claims don’t match the qualification language on WesBank’s current CashPower product information.

If you’ve recently had a credit application rejected, it may be better to understand why your loan application was declined before immediately submitting applications to several more lenders.

What Can You Use a WesBank CashPower Personal Loan For?

Because CashPower is an unsecured personal loan, it isn’t tied to a specific financed asset in the way conventional vehicle finance is.

WesBank promotes CashPower for several different borrowing needs, including:

  • debt consolidation
  • home renovations
  • unexpected expenses
  • medical costs
  • funeral costs
  • emergency travel
  • significant purchases

WesBank describes CashPower as a way of accessing funds for planned expenses as well as unexpected financial costs.

That flexibility is one of the main differences between an unsecured personal loan and asset-backed finance.

But flexibility doesn’t mean every possible use of borrowed money is sensible.

Before taking a loan, consider whether the benefit you’re getting from the expense is worth the interest and fees you’ll pay to finance it.

For example, borrowing for an essential home repair can be very different from borrowing R100,000 for discretionary spending that you could postpone and save for instead.

Can You Use WesBank CashPower for Home Renovations?

Yes. WesBank specifically promotes CashPower personal loans as one potential way of funding home improvements.

That could include expenses such as:

  • renovations
  • repairs
  • kitchen or bathroom improvements
  • outdoor living areas
  • backup power
  • water-storage systems

But borrowing for renovations needs some careful maths.

Suppose a project costs R80,000.

The real question isn’t simply:

“Can I afford the monthly loan payment?”

It’s:

“How much will this R80,000 renovation have cost me once I’ve repaid the loan, interest and fees?”

Get quotes before borrowing, avoid taking substantially more than the project requires and leave room in your budget for unexpected costs.

Can You Use WesBank CashPower for Debt Consolidation?

WesBank specifically identifies debt consolidation as one possible use for a CashPower personal loan.

Debt consolidation involves using a new loan to repay several existing debts, potentially leaving you with one repayment instead of several.

For example, you might have:

Credit card: R25,000
Store accounts: R12,000
Personal loan: R35,000

With DirectAxis’s current consolidation process, qualifying debts can be settled directly with the relevant creditors, leaving you with one new fixed monthly repayment.

Does debt consolidation automatically save money?

No.

This is where borrowers need to be particularly careful.

A lower combined monthly repayment doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve reduced the cost of your debt.

You could consolidate several shorter debts into a new loan lasting six years and end up paying considerably more interest overall.

Before using CashPower for consolidation, compare:

  1. the settlement amounts of your existing debts
  2. the interest rates you’re currently paying
  3. any costs involved in the new loan
  4. the CashPower interest rate you’re offered
  5. the new repayment period
  6. the monthly repayment
  7. the total amount you’ll repay

Consolidation makes most sense when the new arrangement genuinely improves the management or cost of your debt rather than simply pushing repayment further into the future.

There’s another trap too.

If you use a personal loan to clear credit cards and store accounts and then immediately start using those accounts again, you haven’t solved the original problem.

You’ve potentially created new debt on top of the consolidation loan.

Can You Use a WesBank CashPower Personal Loan to Buy a Car?

Interestingly, yes.

And this is one of the more unusual aspects of CashPower given that WesBank is best known for vehicle finance.

WesBank specifically discusses using a CashPower personal loan to purchase a vehicle that might not fit conventional vehicle-finance criteria.

For example, CashPower could potentially be considered where:

  • the vehicle is too old for conventional finance criteria
  • the amount required is too small for the relevant vehicle-finance product
  • you’re considering an older used vehicle that doesn’t qualify for standard asset finance

WesBank makes a similar distinction with some leisure assets. Its current specialist-finance page says bicycles start at a minimum purchase price of R15,000 and directs customers wanting a bicycle costing less than that towards an unsecured CashPower loan.

CashPower vs WesBank vehicle finance for buying a car

These products work differently.

With conventional WesBank vehicle finance, the finance is linked to the vehicle.

CashPower is an unsecured personal loan.

WesBank points out that using a personal loan to buy a car means you own the vehicle rather than having it form the security for the vehicle-finance agreement. It also says a deposit isn’t required in the same way.

But there’s an important trade-off.

WesBank itself warns that because a personal loan is unsecured, the interest rate will generally be higher than secured vehicle finance.

So if a vehicle qualifies for conventional car finance, don’t automatically assume CashPower will be the cheaper way to buy it.

Compare:

CashPower Personal Loan Conventional Vehicle Finance
Unsecured loan Finance secured against vehicle
Money isn’t tied to a financed asset Finance is linked to the vehicle
May work for some vehicles outside standard finance criteria Vehicle must satisfy lender criteria
Fixed CashPower repayment Fixed or linked structures may be available
Comprehensive insurance isn’t a CashPower loan requirement in the same way Comprehensive insurance is generally required for financed vehicle
Unsecured lending may carry a higher interest rate Secured vehicle finance may offer a lower rate

Wesbank cashpower personal loan vs vehicle finance

WesBank nevertheless strongly recommends insuring a vehicle bought with a personal loan. If an uninsured car is stolen or written off, the personal loan doesn’t disappear — you could be left repaying a loan for a car you no longer have.

If you’re specifically buying a vehicle, compare this option with conventional car loans in South Africa and our WesBank car finance review before deciding which structure makes more sense.

What Is the WesBank CashPower Customer Protection Plan?

WesBank promotes a Customer Protection Plan alongside CashPower personal loans.

WesBank describes this as protection designed to help with the loan when certain unforeseen circumstances prevent the borrower from making repayments.

Its CashPower information refers to protection for circumstances such as disability, retrenchment or death.

This type of protection shouldn’t simply be treated as a throwaway benefit.

Before accepting the loan, check the actual policy documentation so you understand:

  • what events are covered
  • what isn’t covered
  • how much cover is provided
  • whether waiting periods apply
  • how claims work
  • whether there are exclusions
  • what the protection costs, if a premium applies to your agreement

Don’t assume that being unable to make a payment for any reason automatically means the insurer will take over your loan repayments.

The actual policy terms and your credit agreement are what matter.

How to Apply for a WesBank CashPower Personal Loan

CashPower applications can be started online.

Because CashPower personal loans are administered and managed by DirectAxis, you may encounter DirectAxis during the application and account-management process even though you started by researching a WesBank product. WesBank and DirectAxis both sit within FirstRand Bank Limited.

The process generally works like this.

How to apply for a wesbank cashpower personal loan

Step 1: Decide how much you actually need

Before applying, work out the amount required and what monthly repayment you can comfortably afford.

Don’t start with:

“How much can I get?”

Start with:

“How much do I actually need to borrow?”

Remember that CashPower is available up to R350,000, but borrowing more means potentially paying interest on a larger balance for several years.

Step 2: Complete the application

You’ll need to provide personal, employment and financial information.

This allows the lender to assess whether you meet its requirements and whether the proposed credit is affordable.

DirectAxis currently states that applicants need a good credit record, regular monthly income of at least R5,000 and details of the bank account into which their salary is paid.

Step 3: Provide your documents

Depending on the application, you may need:

  • a clear copy of your South African ID
  • recent proof of residential address
  • up to three months’ recent bank-generated PDF statements or payslips as proof of income

The exact documents requested can depend on your circumstances.

Step 4: Review your offer

If your application is successful, don’t accept the loan simply because you’ve been approved.

Check:

  • loan amount
  • interest rate
  • repayment period
  • monthly instalment
  • initiation fee
  • monthly service fee
  • any credit-life insurance cost
  • total cost of credit
  • total amount repayable

This is particularly important because CashPower interest rates are personalised.

The rate you’re actually offered matters much more than the lowest rate shown in an advertisement.

Step 5: Accept the agreement

Read your quotation, pre-agreement statement and loan terms before accepting.

Make sure you understand what you’re agreeing to and what the loan will cost over its full term.

How Long Does WesBank CashPower Take to Pay Out?

Be careful with claims that a CashPower loan provides “instant cash.”

DirectAxis currently says that once a personal-loan application has been approved and all required paperwork has been submitted, the money could be received within 24 hours.

That doesn’t mean everybody who submits an application receives money within 24 hours.

Time may be required to:

  1. assess the application
  2. verify your information
  3. receive and check documents
  4. complete the credit agreement
  5. process the payout

So I’d describe CashPower as offering a potentially quick application and payout process rather than calling it an instant loan.

Can You Settle a WesBank CashPower Loan Early?

Yes.

DirectAxis states that personal loans can be settled before the scheduled end of the term and that there are no penalties for settling early.

If you want to settle your CashPower account, don’t simply transfer the balance displayed on an old statement.

DirectAxis advises customers to contact it for a settlement amount based on when they intend to settle the account. Once the required amount is paid within the agreed timeframe, the account can be closed.

Why might early settlement be worthwhile?

If you receive a bonus, inheritance or other lump sum, paying off the loan early could reduce the amount of future interest you pay.

But get an official settlement figure first.

Your outstanding balance and the amount required to completely settle an account aren’t necessarily the same thing.

What Happens if You Miss a CashPower Loan Payment?

A CashPower personal loan is a credit agreement, so missing repayments shouldn’t be treated lightly.

If you don’t make the agreed repayments, your account can fall into arrears.

Depending on the circumstances and your agreement, continued non-payment can potentially result in:

  • arrear interest and permitted charges
  • collection activity
  • negative information being reported to credit bureaus
  • damage to your credit profile
  • legal recovery action

If you think you won’t be able to make a repayment, contact DirectAxis before simply ignoring the payment.

Also check whether any credit-life protection attached to your agreement may apply to the circumstances you’re facing. DirectAxis stresses that policy terms and exclusions apply, so having protection doesn’t mean every missed payment will automatically be covered.

Avoid taking another expensive loan purely to make the CashPower repayment unless you’ve carefully considered the consequences.

Using new debt to repay existing debt can quickly make an affordability problem worse.

WesBank CashPower Personal Loan Pros and Cons

CashPower has several useful features, but that doesn’t mean it will be the right personal loan for everyone.

Pros

Loans up to R350,000

The relatively broad loan range means CashPower can potentially cover both smaller expenses and larger borrowing requirements.

Fixed interest rate

Your agreed interest rate is fixed, making repayments more predictable.

Repayment terms up to 72 months

Longer repayment options can reduce the monthly instalment, although they may increase the overall borrowing cost.

Unsecured borrowing

You don’t need to provide your home, car or another asset as collateral for the loan.

Flexible use of funds

Unlike vehicle finance, CashPower isn’t tied to one particular financed asset.

Online application

You can begin the application digitally.

Early settlement

DirectAxis states that its personal loans can be settled early without an early-settlement penalty.

Cons

Interest rates can be relatively high

CashPower currently advertises personalised rates between 18.00% and 28.00% p.a. A borrower towards the upper end of that range can pay substantial interest over a long term.

Six years is a long time to repay a personal loan

A 72-month term can make the monthly instalment more manageable while significantly increasing the time you’re paying interest.

Fees add to the cost

The initiation fee and R69 monthly service fee need to be considered alongside the interest rate.

The advertised minimum rate isn’t guaranteed

You shouldn’t assume you’ll receive the lowest advertised CashPower rate.

Approval isn’t guaranteed

Meeting the R5,000 minimum-income requirement doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily qualify.

Unsecured borrowing may be expensive for asset purchases

If you’re buying a vehicle that qualifies for conventional secured vehicle finance, compare the total costs carefully before using an unsecured personal loan instead.

Who Might a WesBank CashPower Personal Loan Suit?

CashPower may be worth considering if you:

  • need between R5,000 and R350,000
  • earn at least R5,000 per month
  • have a good credit record
  • want a fixed interest rate and repayment
  • don’t want to provide an asset as security
  • need money for a specific planned expense
  • want to consolidate qualifying existing debts
  • can comfortably afford the repayment alongside your other commitments

It may be less suitable if:

  • you’re already struggling with existing repayments
  • you need to borrow simply to cover everyday living expenses
  • you have a weak credit profile
  • a six-year repayment period is the only way you can make the amount affordable
  • you’re borrowing for something you could reasonably postpone and save for
  • another form of finance would provide a substantially lower total borrowing cost

The fact that a lender is willing to offer you money doesn’t automatically mean taking the loan is a good financial decision.

Wesbank cashpower personal loan application checklist

WesBank CashPower vs Other Personal Loans

CashPower operates in a competitive South African personal-loan market.

You may also come across personal loans from major banks and other registered credit providers.

Don’t compare them purely on:

“Who will lend me the most?”

or:

“Who gives me the lowest monthly repayment?”

Instead, compare the actual offers you qualify for.

What to compare Why it matters
Loan amount Borrow only what you need
Interest rate Directly affects borrowing cost
Fixed/variable rate Determines whether repayments may change
Repayment period Longer terms can increase total interest
Initiation fee Adds to the cost of setting up the loan
Monthly fee Accumulates throughout the term
Credit-life insurance Check cost, cover and exclusions
Monthly repayment Must fit comfortably into your budget
Total cost of credit Shows the bigger borrowing-cost picture
Early-settlement terms Important if you may repay sooner

For example, one lender could offer:

R100,000 over 72 months at a lower monthly repayment

while another offers:

R100,000 over 48 months at a higher monthly repayment.

The first isn’t automatically cheaper.

The longer term could mean paying considerably more over the life of the loan.

That’s why total cost should carry more weight than the monthly instalment alone.

Is WesBank CashPower Worth Considering?

CashPower is a personal-loan offering within the FirstRand group, administered through DirectAxis.

Its main strengths are the R5,000–R350,000 borrowing range, fixed interest rate, terms of 24–72 months and flexibility of unsecured borrowing.

But that flexibility comes at a cost.

At the upper end of CashPower’s advertised interest-rate range, borrowing a large amount over several years can become expensive.

The WesBank example we looked at earlier demonstrates this particularly well: the total cost of a personal loan can be considerably higher than the amount originally borrowed.

CashPower is therefore worth including in a comparison, rather than assuming it’s automatically the best option because of the WesBank name.

Your actual interest rate, fees, repayment period and total amount repayable should determine whether an offer represents reasonable value for your circumstances.

Compare Personal Loan Options in South Africa

CashPower is one personal-loan option, but you don’t need to judge your borrowing decision on one provider alone.

Before accepting an offer, compare:

  • interest rate
  • loan amount
  • repayment term
  • initiation and monthly fees
  • credit-life insurance
  • monthly repayment
  • total cost of credit
  • total amount repayable

A lower monthly payment doesn’t necessarily mean a cheaper loan.

Compare loan options button

FatCat Loans is a loan comparison service, not a lender. WesBank CashPower may not be available through our lender network. Loan availability, amounts, rates and terms depend on the lender and your individual circumstances.

Final Verdict

WesBank CashPower provides access to unsecured personal loans from R5,000 to R350,000, with fixed interest and repayment periods of 24 to 72 months.

Its fixed-rate structure provides predictable repayments, while the broad loan range and ability to use the funds for different purposes make it more flexible than finance tied to a specific asset.

However, that doesn’t make CashPower inexpensive.

With advertised rates currently reaching 28.00% p.a., fees on top and terms extending to six years, borrowers should pay close attention to the total cost of the loan, not simply whether the monthly repayment looks affordable.

If you’re considering CashPower, borrow only what you need, review the quotation carefully and compare the offer against other suitable personal-loan options before signing.

Most importantly, make sure the repayment comfortably fits your existing budget for the entire loan term, rather than relying on future income increases to make the debt affordable.
